Confessing

Confessing

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

So this is me: Confessing

I’m down on my knees

With my unworthy hands clasping yours

Spilling my guts

On your thick red carpets

And if I had a knife right now

I’d be cutting myself

In time with the words

Of my own self destruction

But would that be dramatic enough for you?

Cos I’m getting

The impression

That you’re into ‘over the top’

Into melodramatic

So maybe I’d better impale myself

On the bloody knife

Begging for your forgiveness

With my dying breaths

And I’m guessing tears

Are pretty essential

So I’ll make sure I save up

Plenty of those

In fact maybe

We should make the knife a sword

Faintly rusted and jewel incrusted

Longer than my arm

I’ve just got one question…

Will Friday work for you?
