Tell Me... Is It Wrong?

Tell Me... Is It Wrong?

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

Is it wrong

For me to despise

People who say they’re in love

Is it wrong for me

To pity their folly

To think them

In line for imminent disappointment

Is it wrong

For me to scorn

Their shows of affection

Wrong for me to think them

Pathetic?

Tell me.

Because I do.

Is it wrong

For me to despise

People who pine after their love

When they’ve been dumped

Ditched

Forgotten

Is it wrong

For me to want to slap them

Wrong for me to want to

Shout the brutal truth

In their faces

So they can’t ignore it

Wrong for me

To feel a certain satisfaction

Like ‘I told you so…’

Wrong for me

To have so little faith in humanity?

Tell me.

Because I do.

Tell me…

Is it wrong

For me

To despise people

More courageous than myself?

This is an interesting piece, it seems to come full circle. You begin by telling of your complaints about other people, and questioning if it is right to feel what you do. You then move to anger at these people who love so easily, and finish by saying that they are courageous where you are not. This poem gives an excellent representation of jealousy and envy that is so present in today's society. I enjoyed your poem, well written with an excellent message. :)
