Empty

Empty

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

I saw a man breathe fire today.

The flames licked the air

Visible anger.

But the scariest thing

Was the mans face.

Empty.

Empty like he had no soul.

Like he had nothing inside.

Only the fire

A visible anger.

I saw death today.

It filled the TV screen

A battlefield of corpses.

Each one sporting an

Empty face.

Empty because their souls

Had flown.

(Before or after the battle…?)

I saw you today

But you looked right through me

Face empty

(Where’s your soul?)
