Raining Indifference

Raining Indifference

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

It’s raining

Again

Soft rain

The kind where

You don’t even realise you’re wet

Until you’re soaking.

Nice rain.

I think.                  (Put the emphasis where you will)

It’s raining on me

Again

Sneaky rain

The kind that

Likes people using umbrellas

Just so it can get up under them

Without them ever knowing how.

It’s a simple matter of determination.

It’s raining

Again

Cheerless rain

The kind that pitter-patters

On peoples window panes

The kind that they ignore

In the hopes that it will leave them alone

Lonely rain.

It’s raining again

And they’re putting

Your body in the ground.

But it’s an indifferent rain

And it turns the earth to mud

Beneath our feet.

(A small part of me watches gleefully

As it ruins their perfect shoes

And soaks their expensive clothes

As they run for cover)

Soon it is only us left

You me and the rain

(Turning earth to mud beneath their feet

As we

Rain indifference)

Nice! It's half screen play, half poem :D That's truly. I felt like I was able to take a small part in the poem and actually put forth an effort into becoming a part of it. It allowed the reader to be active and SEE the poem unfolding infront of their eyes! Truly perfect idea.

What I would recommend is that you change a few words in it, such as "sad rain". I believe that if you simply replace a few words like that one, you will find that it will..well sort of pop off the page. Paired with the aspect of the "screenplay", it should truly make for great read :)
