Painted Exit

Painted Exit

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

You kept me

In a gilded cage

Thinking your praises

Were sufficient company

I had long since

Given up hoping for

An escape

When into my mind

Came a

Painted exit

And I took flight

Into a welcome

Oblivion

Comatose

I like how the poem is so simple, short, and to the point. The only thing I might say about it is that it seems to be lacking something. I would assume that it had to be the X factor known as true emotion. I think the simpl nature of it takes away from the emotion. I DO like how the poem seems to follow a certain pattern of lines, but at some points that pattern seemed to confuse me just a bit.

Overall, I do believe it is quite a stunning poem, but just the tiniest bit of work could make it ever better :)
