Red On White. Crimson Snow.

Red On White. Crimson Snow.

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

Bloodied feathers

Fell

                Dancingly

From above

Red on White

It was the battle

Of the

Angels

And feathers

Lay

                Scattered

On the snow

Like a new sort

                Of snowflake

A single crow

Black

Perched on a twisted branch

It watched

The falling feathers

Without emotion

But it was just a bird

What emotion could

It show?

Bloodied feathers

Fell

                Dancingly

From above

Like a new sort

                Of snowflake

A boy

Too young

To know better

Opened the front door

‘Ma! The cat’s killed another bird.’

He edged closer to the feathers

Looking for a body

Found none

And ran off to build a snowman

It was the battle

Of the

Angels

And feathers

Lay

                Scattered

On the snow

Red on White

The crow flew away.

It was just a bird.

Why should it care?

I found this poem very interesting. The structure and context come together beautifully. Kudos.
