No. 201

No. 201

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

I'm standing outside

A door marked

No. 201

Wondering

How it's gonna end

Cos my hands are tied

And I've got

No kind words

For a species

Raised on personal gain

It's raining now

And we're standing in it

(The rain)

Waiting for something to happen

Waiting for something to change

Waiting for someone

To tell us they're to blame

While human nature

Makes hypocrites of us all

It's raining

And we're complaining

Cos that's all it ever does

We spend our days

Waiting for sun

So we can promptly panic

And curse the heat wave

(All 30 degrees of it....)

As if a bit of summer

Might wipe us all out

As if a moment without complaint

Is a moment wasted

So how about growing some backbone?

I mean

That's what evolution's all about

Right?

Meanwhile human nature

Makes fools of us all

(Only, we call it character.)

This is intense, but I don't really like how there aren't really very many periods. But maybe that was intentional? Either way, I really do like this. It's very well written, and does hold a lot of meaning. Excellent write!
