In The Dark (It Feels Like Love)

In The Dark (It Feels Like Love)

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

The lights are out

But that doesn’t mean that nobody’s home

We’re sitting here

In the dark

Thinking about the words

We’ve said

(In the dark

They seem more important)

And wondering

If lies are such a bad thing

And we’re sitting here

In the dark

(Because in the dark

It feels like love)

Just trying

To find our place in this world

(Hoping it’s something important)

We’re sitting here

In the dark

Not because it’s night

But because the curtains are closed

Closed because it gives us a reason

To be tragic

This is just your regular

Romeo and Juliet

(Kids who think they know it all)

But give us a break

Because we’re Love’s latest martyrs

(Kids with firecrackers)

And it doesn’t get nobler

Than that

We’re walking into the night

Because it’s dark

And suits our disposition

(Because it makes us feel older)

And we’re drinking

Because it’s too much to bear

(At least we hope that’s how it looks)

And we’re holding hands

Because we’re in so deep

And we need the comfort

(But our hands are loose with a lack of feeling)

We’re just your regular

Romeo and Juliet

(Mistaking love and adrenaline)
