Dreaming 'Cause It's What You Do Best

Dreaming 'Cause It's What You Do Best

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

Eyes closed you’ve got your face to the sky

Dreaming ‘cause it’s what you do best

And the world goes on, passes you by

But you’re dreaming, and it’s what you do best.

So stand in the crowd and hold your breath

Hoping you go unnoticed, but the rain’s pouring down

And you’re face up, like you’re kissing the sky

And they can’t help but see your look of peace.

You’re surrounded by bodies

All soaked from the rain, cold from the truth

Watching you as you turn, face up, and dreaming

Watching you as you kiss the sky, lips parted in surrender.

Eyes closed you’ve got your face to the sky

Dreaming ‘cause it’s what you do best

And the world goes on, passes you by

But you’re dreaming, and it’s what you do best.

So stand, arms out to embrace the world

And dream of things that’ll never be

Because they’re watching you, looking for flaws

And they’ll never let you go, unnoticed.

You’re surrounded by restless people

Unsatisfied, and vying for the attention of the world

And they’re watching you and your honesty

Watching the truthful curve of your lips.

Eyes closed you’ve got your face to the sky

Dreaming ‘cause it’s what you do best

And the world goes on, passes you by

But you’re dreaming, and it’s what you do best.

You’re dreaming, forgetting the rest.

I liked the repeating. Dangerously close to being overdone, but I like it.

And they're watching you and your honesty

I really like that line for some reason. :)
