DistortionA Poem by Cassidy MaskSluggish lips
In a swollen face
Forming words
Like complicated equations
Brow furrowed
Jaw clenched
Spitting phrases
Into empty space.
Eyes, small
And piggish
Incongruous with the
Wide face
With lids that droop
And wobble with
Every movement.
Tongue, fat
And overly pink
Lolling in a decidedly
Grotesque
Expression of concentration
As cheeks
Resembling beetroots
Puff out
And drag in
Hanging barely low enough
To disguise
A sickening rubbery chin.
