Remember Spring?

Remember Spring?

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

Remember the spring?

When the world was green

And you wore that dress

(The one without sleeves)

And the cherry blossom

Fell like snow

Upon our upturned faces

And the world was warm

Where we were

And the sky blue blue blue

Do you remember the spring?

When the leaves were on the trees

Rather than under

And the ground had a frosting of bluebells

We wore t-shirts

And no jumper

And we took photos in the bright sunshine

Like we had nothing to fear

Of the future

It’s winter now

And I’m trying to remember the spring.

But it’s dark outside

And it’s hard to imagine the sun

When you’re wrapped in layers

Like a giant cocoon

So I’ll just turn all the lights on

And wear flip flops

Over my three pairs of socks

And pretend like

The wind whistling past the windows

Is the sound of waves

On a perfect yellow beach

Remember the spring?...

I do love your poems...

This poem is amazing. It tells of a great loss, of a love once cherished but unwillingly left behind. You make the reader feel the pain you have felt, the loss and the longing for a past love. I didn't find any flaws in this poem, it was extremely beautiful, and I definitely enjoyed reading it!
