Yellow Bear

Yellow Bear

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

Blue sky

Green grass

Meant another day

Like any other

So I got out my paints

And stuck the tubes

To the canvas

Because they looked good

And I was in no mood for painting

And then I went for a walk

By the sea

Because the sea had no

Set colour

And I liked it that way

And I caught the waves in a jar

And watched them

Ravage the glass cliffs

I liked the glass because it caught

Colours

And borrowed them

Because it had none of its own

I took the sea home

In my glass cage

And put it by my bed

But it escaped while I slept

And drowned me

With its caresses

They found me washed up

In Australia

My teeth bared in a smile

In my arms a

Jar of salt.
