Dog Eat Dog

Dog Eat Dog

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

Dog eat dog

Means it’s alright to

Stab me in the back

So long as you get what

You need

Means it’s fine

To leave me

At the starting line

Weighted down

By your baggage

Dog eat dog

Means it’s fine to

Whisper your lies

Into my ear at night

While I sleep

Unawares

Means it’s fine

To kiss my skin

While you plunge

Your knife

In my neck

To get the head start

Dog eat dog

Means it’s fine

To leave me bleeding.

It’s a dog eat dog world

You say with a smirk

But my ‘dog’ is a wolf

And yours a Chihuahua

So I guess that means

I win...?
