Here To Witness Not Live

Here To Witness Not Live

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

You stand there

Arms out like you’ve

Nothing left to give

And sometimes I feel

Like I’m here to witness

Not to live

I’m sick of asking

For things I don’t deserve

And I’m sick of the whispers of

‘She’s got some nerve...’

I want to belong

And I want to feel real

But you’ve always been hers

And I’m not one to steal

You love her

And you love your life

And we’re so different

I’d only cause you strife

So unclench your fingers

From round my wrist

I’ll leave now

And I’ll never be missed

I know what you want

And I know what I am

And I know what we had

Was no more than a sham

So I stand here

Arms closed

‘Cause I want nothing you’d give

And I know now for sure

I’m here to witness

Not live
