If I Could

If I Could

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

If I could move

I’d go outside

And I’d stand

In the falling white

But my legs won’t move

And my arms

Hang limp

And I can’t seem

To make things right

If I could talk

I would make my tongue

Say the words

That are caught inside

But my lips

Stay shut

And my tongue won’t move

And I find that I can’t confide

If I could see

I would open my eyes

And I’d look straight

Into yours

But the world

Is dark to my clouded eyes

And I cannot find

The cause

If I could

I would hold you tight

And I’d whisper in your ear

But I can’t

And you’re deaf

So you wouldn’t even hear

This is so sad, I was almost crying at that last stanza. The whole poem is so calm, yet there is an underlying feeling of desperation. Amazing
