Education

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

They’d like to drown us out

With knowledge

But our heads

Are a one way system

And the only way

Is out

They’d like to nail us

To our desks

And hang something

Clever above our heads

But our expressions

Would probably

Negate all thought of

Achievement

We work on role plays

To learn empathy

But all we learn

Is that criminals

Are usually the good guys

And that somewhat defeats

The point of your

Justice

Our heads

Are pumped with

Information

To replace our lacking

Enthusiasm

But what happened to our

Hunger for life?

They ask with

Jaded eyes

It was resolved at

Lunch time.

I loved this! The whole thing made so much sense, To learn empathy/But all we learn/Is that criminals/Are usually the good guys, What I didn't really get was, well I don't think I could have forgiven any of the made up criminals...I'm not sure if that makes me a bad person, because even if they're sorry, they still killed/robbed/delt drugs.........I suppose you don't know anything 'till you're in the situation....Anyway, Great Poem!
