Flair

Flair

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

You’re watching me

Like I’m crazy

(Which I’m not)

And dangerous

(Which I probably am)

You say my name

Like a swear word

And I tilt my head in

Polite enquiry

‘You called?’

I nibble on my

Yoghurt coated raisins

And try to ignore

The smell of meat

That clings to me

‘Like a bad odour’

Which it just so happens to be

Your eyebrows are raised,

Delicately

They might say,

But I prefer the word

Copiously,

As your brows

Are thick and overpower

Your slight face,

Which is not dissimilar

To that of a rodent

You read my appraisal

In the set of my jaw

And I laugh

As you discreetly

Run your fingers

Over your brow

You question my confidence

With an arrogant

Twist of your head

And I just smile

Tamely

And say

‘I got flair.’
