Love Thy Enemies

Love Thy Enemies

A Poem by Cassidy Mask
"

I will not react. I will not speak. I will not stoop to their level.

"

The sky’s white

And the world is grey

And they kiss

Like there’s no tomorrow

Which

Given the possibilities

Is a perfectly reasonable

Hypothesis

We sit in chairs

Lacking certain ergonomic

Essentials

While we slowly

Wile away our days

Learning how to

Make numbers

Into other numbers

In case we ever

Meet a number we don’t like

We ride home

In a bus

That reeks of inflated ego

And sit up straight

And still

Forgiving the darlings

Who abuse us

In an attempt to

Extract some reaction

In an attempt to

Make themselves happier

Better

More rounded

Human beings

Because

(Their parents never loved them)

Their prospects are slim.

But I’m learning forgiveness

Patience and self control

And I’ll not say another word

Against them

(I’d love to see their faces

If I whipped a gun out on them)

We’ll see who triumphs.

i really like this, it does portray anger but that doesn't matter. I love the ending sooo much, "(i'd love to see their faces if i whipped a gun out on them)".

wow.

I guess you were really angry........the anger returned in the end.....stronger than before,,,,,sense of annihilation,,,,,,,maybe you went too fast to forgiveness patience and self control..( three huge concepts)..its as if you arrived at an impasse,,,,, try taking them one at a time,,,,,,,you are stronger than you think you are!
