A Matter Of CakeA Poem by Cassidy MaskI feel the need to warn you - cake does not feature until the end :pGive me grace And goodwill towards others Give me good health And fame beyond compare The sincerity of address And serenity of appearance Renders their words Genuine Their sentiments honest Their judgement lacking With eyes heavenwards They apply to their Sovereign gods Asking for no less Than a miracle Expecting no less than A speedy acquiescence Their sympathy is turned inwards Their pity to the sincere Their eyes see short fallings Everywhere but within Failure everywhere but at home Their fists are clenched Like the infant that knows not What it does Raging at the world While they fester in their delusions Their ideals invoke reaction But This is a matter of cake And I’ll say no more But savour only sweetness And take another slice. © 2010 Cassidy MaskReviews
