NeologismA Poem by Cassidy MaskPerhaps my use of the word is neologism in its self...I should be working Head down Eyes down Brain dead But I read your words As they crawled off the page And infested me And now my hands are shaking My eyes narrowed My brain alive Head up Chin up Fingers tapping I won’t abandon My last shreds of dignity My last hope of creativity I won’t shut down Shut up And work I won’t give up I’d rather throw up The taunts and threats You’ve been beating Down our throats I should be working Following orders But I know enough now To know the difference between Knowledge and your time wasting techniques I know enough now To switch off Switch sides To grin and bear no longer Instead I’ll grin as I spit Your lies back in your face Don’t look so shocked Be proud of what I’ve retained Because I couldn’t have done this alone I am the very lies you bred The beatings And the threats I am your creation A bright spark On the futuristic horizon I am neologism A new way Of seeing things © 2010 Cassidy MaskReviews
