Our Merry Group Of Five

Our Merry Group Of Five

A Poem by Cassidy Mask
"

sometimes I hate my rhyming self.

"

Not a cloud

In the sky that was blue

On the day

That we went to the zoo

We sat

On the train

And I tried to explain

How we’d get there "

Me, them and you

A bus after train

No need to explain

That was simple enough

You said

But if you don’t mind

And would be so kind

Would you get that song

Out of my head

Finally

We arrived at the zoo

Alighted with a waved

Thank you

And headed straight for

The winding queue

Once in

We smiled and laughed

And photographed

Watched, observed

Were glad

While they probably thought

We were mad

We pointed

And joked

Obeyed and didn’t

Smoke

And always we took

Pictures

Ignoring any strictures

Happy to be alive

Our merry group of five
