Gone To Hell (And A Starless Eternity)

Gone To Hell (And A Starless Eternity)

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

You put up the stars

Named them

Loved them

Gave them

But we turned our backs

Not wanting to see

Their bright white souls

Those which put

Our own to shame

You scattered the stars

Knew them

Each personally

                Separately

                Individually

But we laughed at your

Pathetic attempts

Believing ourselves

Superior

As we bothered not with

Any outside ourselves

Needed not

Any outside ourselves

You put up the stars

Cultured them

Shared them

And we mocked you

Your sentimentality

Your weaknesses

We loved you not

The stars are gone now

Winked into nothingness

And we are

Gone to Hell

Our superior sensibilities

Finally set right

Dear God what did we do?
