Little Pink Creature

Little Pink Creature

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

You’re so small

And warm in my arms

Little pink creature

Stretching

With clenched fists

And closed eyes

I hold you and try not

To think

Because my thoughts

Are twisting

And I can’t let them in

Can’t let them

Come between us

I hold you tight

Try not to hate you

But your face is

Scrunched up

And you’re crying

Your fists are clenched

And you look more like

A little gremlin

Than the cherub

We imagined

I hold you and I

Try not to shake

Try not to crush you

As you fall asleep

You yawn

And suddenly

I can’t take it

I push you away

Into welcoming arms

My skin burns

Where yours has been

And I try to crush

The words

Screaming in my head

You yawn

Like the murder has

Made you sleepy

And the image

Of your dead mother

Disappears behind my tears

You’re so small

Little pink creature

So small

And so destructive

.. :o .. That last but one stanza made my mouth drop like a fish!

I hold you and I
Try not to shake
Try not to crush you

That reminded me of Lennie a little bit....

So beautiful (sorry about the lack of desribing words..) I hate you....

A good poem about the miracle of life. Good work here.. Have you considered making it longer? I'd enjoy reading some more of this, if possible. Either way, You should be proud of this, well done (: Thanks for sharing =D
