Wet Your Wings

Wet Your Wings

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

Stay with me

Cocooned here

In the warm dark

Stay with me

In this bubble of

Soft protection

The world is outside

Screaming to be

Noticed

But we can stay here

Safe in the dark

I watch you fly away

Let’s turn back the clocks

Try this again

I’ll wet your wings

So you can’t fly

And you’ll stay

With me

Safe

Comfortable

Together

In my dreams

I watch you fly away

Your wings bright

Against the reddish

Darkness

Behind my eyelids

Maybe

Next time you’ll

Stay
