Stencilled Skin

Stencilled Skin

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

I’m sitting

In a garden

Amongst the yellow roses

Stencilling letters

Into my skin

Hoping they’ll make me

More meaningful

I’m using a silver pen

And my fingers

Are stained with it

They shimmer as they move

Like fish scales

As they catch the sun

I send them darting

Through the roses

Showering myself with

Sweet yellow petals

Beneath them

My stencilled skin

Runs with dew

And I lose all meaning

In the silver trails

That chase down my body

Like the tears

Of stars
