Weaker When Wet

Weaker When Wet

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

We’re paper thin

And we crumble beneath

Your touch

We’re brittle

Breakable

And weaker when wet

We’re childlike

Impressionable

And likely to crack

Our innocence is

Fragile

And we’re weaker when wet

The rain

Turns our skin translucent

And we collapse

On breaking knees

As we disintegrate

Our eyes smudging

Dripping

As they look heavenwards

To their destroyer

We’re paper thin

(Weaker when wet)
