Happy 'Drunks'

Happy 'Drunks'

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

We stand around

Try to be serious

Make clever conversation

But my head’s spinning

And you make me

More silly than I am

(I think...)

We’re sitting down

And it’s hard to

Hold my head up

(From shame?)

I think I missed

My mouth

His vodka’s all down

My new dress

(Your coke and ‘?’

Over my new shoes)

Let’s go in the garden

But I think they disapprove

(Expected better...)

‘Hey at least

We’re Happy Drunks!’

(Watching him vomit

Out the window...)

They’re smoking

(Apparently it helps you

Climb Kilimanjaro...)

But you’re just

Overgrown boys

(Irresponsible)

And you shouldn’t

Encourage us

(Lord knows

We don’t need it...)

She’s caught us up

‘You’re pissed lovely’

(I love you drunk...)

We’re so bloody HAPPY

‘When you move to Cyprus

You’ll get all the boys’

‘I’m moving to Singapore’

‘...you just wait.’

‘...it’ll be a long one...’

‘Why IS the rum always gone??’

‘Don’t drink that

You’ll make yourself sick...

There’s Vodka in the

Fridge if you want it.’

(.....?!?

Is that supposed to be better?)

                All

           Of

Lost

                                Sense

                           Order

We’ll be better tomorrow

Promise

But we haven’t eaten and

You shouldn’t

Drink so much

On an empty stomach

                (My eyes won’t stay

                Bloody still...)

You’re off your face

But HAPPY

That’s all that matters

(Right?)

I got two hours

To sober up

Before my Dad arrives

(Or I’m dead)

(A disappointment...)

I really think you should

Have a glass of water now...
