The Betrayer Beneath My Skin

The Betrayer Beneath My Skin

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

At night
I curl up, in the dark
Hug my treacherous body
And shake.

I don't cry.
I have no tears.
Instead I stare at the
Wall, searching for
Some kind of
Comfort in the
Soft contours
Of the paint.

I watch my reflection
Grow thin and grey
But I feel no pity,
Only faint disgust
And an overwhelming
Resignation.
This is my fate.

I wait for
My body to
Finish me.
A betrayal I've come
To accept.

sad... worrying... (unless it's not in any way to do with you!)
but very powerful. you're so good, i don't know what it is about your writing but it just leaves you thinking for ages after reading it, and leaves you wanting to read more.
you write so powerfully yet, you leave the reader guessing as to what exactly's happening, leaving a million and one reasons yet it may be only one and that's another thing that makes the poem so gripping.
brilliant.
