Compulsion For ExpressionA Poem by Cassidy MaskKnowledge and happiness Never came hand in hand We were ignorant children And depressed philosophers With our hands bound By (human nature) our Compulsion for expression Well I’m high on history I never got told (How the east made the west) And I’m seeing the world In a whole new light Finally I feel human Unafraid of my fears I signed up to waste my days But you’ve got me Getting to know myself Philosophising on the future Reminiscing on the past You’ve got me Hands tied, face down In love with theories Of your own invention You said you liked my story (Your goose bumps said still more) And I replied with a tired grin ‘I think this is my favourite part’ I walked away without Looking back.
