Try To Believe (The Sun Makes Circles Through Square Holes)

Try To Believe (The Sun Makes Circles Through Square Holes)

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

Your bruised eyes fall on me

But I’m not the first to notice

The sun makes circles

Through square holes

And I’m not the first

To doubt miracles

And the existence of souls

And I’m not the first

To pin my hopes

On paper dreams

Their origami wings

Can’t hold the weight

Of all our wishing

And it won’t be long

Before we send them

Crashing

But I’m not the first

To try to be someone I’m not

And we’re all here aren’t we?

(Trying to pretend we’re not.)

We stand in a grim circle

Around you

And we could really use a miracle

But we don’t know who

To ask

Still we face the sky.

(Try to believe.)
