Conceited Smile (Consuming Fear)

Conceited Smile (Consuming Fear)

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

You’d never

Do it for me

Because I’m ugly

And self-deprecating

And I’d never

Let you anyway.

But at night I cry

And tear

At my scars

Because I would

Be perfect

For you, if I could.

But ‘I’m afraid’

You smile

Your conceited smile

(The one with the cracks)

And whisper

‘Aren’t we all’

This actually made me cry. It's horrible! The subject matter, not the writing! The writing is amazing. It's so painful and ..breaking? That doesn't make sense, but in my head it does. Wow..
