UGLY.

UGLY.

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

We’re ugly

And we take advantage.

Your eyes are

In your head

And they watch us

With disdain.

We laugh as we cry

(To put off your pity)

Because your hatred

Is all that keeps us

Warm at night.

You don’t understand,

Furrowed brow

Reveals all,

And we roll our eyes.

We laugh

At your frustration

But, you catch us out,

Stop us dead.

Eyebrow raised

You ask:

‘Sarcasm or honesty?’

Our mirth dies

In our wretched throats.

And we turn away

(ugly.)
