Rip

Rip

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

I went to your funeral

And stood at the back.

Still your family stared

Wondering who I could be.

I wore a black veil

Over that black dress

I was wearing the first time

We met.

Your sister introduced herself

Wondering out loud

How I had known you.

I smiled and

Reapplied my lipstick.

Then I asked her

The best place to find a taxi

And left her staring

Blankly after me.

I went to your funeral.

I stood at the back

And smiled.
