Cigarette et al.

Cigarette et al.

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

I’m killing you

Slowly.

Drawing it out,

Making it last,

Watching you fade.

I’m just another

Cigarette

And I’ve got

You hooked,

Each rasping breath

A tribute.

I’m killing you.

And you’ll let me,

‘cause I’m your

Favourite disease.

And you’d miss

The fire on your lips.

I’m just another

Virus

And I’ve got

You spilling

Your secrets on the

Bathroom floor.

I’m killing you

And you’ll let me

‘cause there’s

Nothing more satisfying

Than an empty

Stomach and a

Dirty face.

I’m just another

Infection

And I’ve got

You tearing

At your half healed

Wounds.

I’m killing you

And you’ll let me

‘cause you like to

Watch the bleeding

And you’ll never

Get this for free.

I’m killing you quickly,

Watching you smile.

'And you’d miss
The fire on your lips.'

I love those lines. Well I love all of it.

This is awesome (I'm really running out of words to say how great your poems are..) I love the metaphor/personification of a person being like a cigarette, and how they are really bad for you, but you don't notice etc.. it's all very very well done.
