Goodbye To The Sun

Goodbye To The Sun

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

You told me you thought that drowning

Was a good idea. And though I tried to

Resist I couldn’t help admitting that

I was curious.

So you took me to the seaside and

(While I tried to hide my anxious

Tears) held my lips beneath the

Waves.

And I kissed the air that slipped from

My gaping mouth and whispered

Goodbye to the sun, hoping it

Could hear the apology in my

Muffled cries.

As I slipped I felt your hands on

My shoulders grow soft and I let

My eyes follow the ripples that

Sent light dancing across your pained

Expression.

In the dark that followed I heard

Your voice. I think it welcomed

Me home.

This gave me shivers. I love the idea of wanting to see what drowning is like, because it's something you can't imagine, or experience without dying...unless of course you get waterboarded, but no one WANTS that...anyway, yeah, i love it, and i love the idea of kissing the air..
