A Hive Where The Stars Shine, Trapped In Honey

A Hive Where The Stars Shine, Trapped In Honey

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

Like bees in a hive

We are too close

(Our breath mixes in twists and swirls)

Too ordered

(Our fingers lace uncomfortably)

Like a breath of wind

We are too little

(We barely count as anything)

Too much

(We set the world spinning)

Like the stars

We are too distant

(Our minds are the chasm between us)

Too beautiful

(Our hearts break daily, nightly)

In the warmth

Of a sunrise that makes me think of you

I wipe the honey

From my salted eyes but still

I cannot get out.
