Faltering

Faltering

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

We pretended to talk

About the issues

Beneath our skins

But really

We were just

Skirting around the truth.

I saw your smile falter

As I drove away.

I think it broke my heart.

In the dark I feel

Its beat,

Faltering.

This is so simple it's beautiful. I love the image (and idea of a beating smile) of a smile in the dark. So sad and beautiful. x
