Hood And Hooked

Hood And Hooked

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

Red is what stands out

In a memory

The taste of skin and salt

Of summer sun and

An artic breeze.

Blood Red is what stands out

In a memory.

Yesterday seems a

World away,

All that’s left

Are stills of smiles.

Memories chase

Themselves around

Our aching minds

And we close our eyes

And listen to the Red.

The rhythm of this almost makes it feel like a sort of childrens chant, but the words are nothing like it. I love the repition of 'Red is what stands out in a memory.' It's such a striking line. And 'Memories chase/Themselves around/Our aching minds,' I love it. x
