Back when blue was our favorite color,
and sheets, boxes, and cusions were the best toys,
and my bedroom window was a television
for the outside world,
that's when Summer had a feeling, you know?

Back when the lost and lonely followed us home,
and we had two families,
and camping in the backyard was
the smell of sweet freedom,
that's when laughing was easy, remember?

Back when swimming in the creek was alright,
and tree swings were the greatest invention,
and writing songs about a life we never knew was
almost second nature,
that's when life was good, it seemed
