Chasing The SunA Poem by CharlyA patriotic spark The crunch of a ripe Pink Lady Unwrinkled youth A pumpkin’s glowing face The bank account balance after a juicy paycheck Your mother’s voice Time is to permanence As the chasing moon is to the fleeting sun. Light has just begun to emerge When the moon surges Across the finish line, Constantly reminding us that we can’t undo time. The badgering click of the clock Pushes permanence to the bottom of the ticking heap And lifts Mr. Temporary to the towering throne. All hail Sir Temporary! Kiss his ever-changing feet And fan his featureless face! Fireworks and apples grapple with clockwise hands While dollars and jack-o-lanterns wrestle The permanent tyrant of the wavering mound. All hail Sir Temporary! © 2015 CharlyFeatured Review
