Approaching Silence

Approaching Silence

A Poem by George Love
"

An Approaching winter snow

"

Approaching Silence

All around the grayness gathers
Filtering, hiding and darkening the vast blue sky
Shadowy shapes crash through from above
Becoming more clear as they dive into safety
Softly now the sounds become
Ever more stealthily the skies deeply fold
To caress the deep softness in sound

Shadowy, slowly and silently now it reaches
Farther, yet still farther into its depths of memories
Can one deny its fast approaching?
Can one stand in its way to cast it aside?
Relentlessly covering, deeply now darkening
And at last the first flakes do fall
Casting a silent white blanket all round!

Wonderful imagery for a subject I know all too well right now, here in New England lol

Beautiful poem, George!

This is perfect! You captured this feeling beautifully. I often sit still and watch a storm come. There's something about a snowfall that is so quiet and still and it makes me want to be quiet and still, too.
