At Last True Love Requited

Inundated with the rhythm,

The melody of your  heart

Keeping time as my own beats,

My ear flat against your chest-

Feel you surround my being-

All that is you, now is mine;

All that is me, now  is yours.

 

I catch my breath a moment

Hoping this will never fade,

Nestling into love, deeper;

Closer with each beat and breath.

I've never heard such music

Within the silence and I

Am afraid I'll sing, out loud-

Shattering our sweet moment-

Because joy has bubbled up,

Uninhibited at last.

 

The harmony between us

Has freed me of all the fear

Our melody has entered

Soft, low, restoring my soul

Oh, the world is new again!

Everything has a reason!

How beautiful life becomes,

Here and now, within your arms.

It's the first I've known of peace-

At last, true love, requited.

the poem is special because it is rare. pure unadulterated bliss brought upon by love. i'm happy for you, not a lot of people are so lucky. i think you did a great job communicating the joy you feel and the poem was very light and enjoyable to read. there's also honesty to it which i love. "everything has a reason!" -the thing every person exclaims when in love. nice work!

this is a good poem, one of the very few happy love poems out there... i love the feeling of relief and assurance given by a requitted love and it is amazingly captured in this poem.
