leaving

leaving

A Poem by brianna vega

leaving all that matters with a pack of useless forget-me-not's
an old book some pictures second hand clothes and the journal you always forget you have
your leaving now taking off doing what you always said
todays the day and your mothers crying as you climb onto that bus
she never believed a word you said
and now your taking off
leaving behind all those fights with a hope that the distance will make you friends
this states causing claustrophobia
and you cant really breath
the mix of la pollution and your cheap cigarettes never really agreed
and your leaving
all your past regrets
anxious for whats coming next

Nicely written... the lack of punctuation makes this a breathless read, as though the writer is on the move, or transporting her thoughts as soon as they are born. This resonates strongly; sometimes one has to leave before they can be welcome... one of the strange ironies of life...
