A Steer of a Thunder CloudA Poem by lee von cleefFather and son
My father could talk
But he expected you to listen, We would drive 100 mile round trip together in the summers, A young rat,I slept my head on the truck window I 'd wake up, him driving through the stable gate. On the way home we would have a New Mexico sunset off on the right, A lot to look at, and we did, Not much talking, Just a lot of watching, seeing who saw what. Like a thunder head cloud, shaped like a steer, Rain, Rain falling straight down, Straight down over there, Splashing off the mesa, Splashing up,it seemed.... "Just like that steer was ....." "Peeing on a flat rock." We might talk about that. © 2012 lee von cleefAuthor's Note
