89th Birthday Party( a thank you of my Grans)

89th Birthday Party( a thank you of my Grans)

A Poem by lee von cleef

         As a family
   we learned to talk
Before we even learned to walk.
My aunts and uncles spoke in rhyme,
Grandpa penned poems all the time,
Plays and drams my mother wrote,
     But my father and I
  No matter how we chose
 Always ended up in prose.

    So let me say this--
I have had many a birthday that
   I no longer recall,
A few that I can remember
   But of them all
Today-- is the one birthday
I shall never forget !
Thank you each and every one
For making my 89th one
Happiest Birthday of all!

What ties us together as blood, those are the things that seem to stand out, apart. To have the love of words to share seems an intimate thing, for family...a gift, surely.

We are who we are because they are who they are. Yes, yes.
