giving honor

Best I remember it goes -

No place like the past

all the rest is just rumor

you can hide there forever

and avoid the future.

Those Memphis memories

have an honest heart appeal

from the friendly WJDX

with detail and dialect

they all seem quite real.

The story is picture perfect

behind that green curtain

the wit is superbly stated

and the truth is for certain

as a photographed effect.

Then falls the silence

quite tragically deafening

with little communion

just lose and grief amazing 

with optimistic illusion.

The past was built by others 

but also was her own 

so to reveal the mystery 

she brought us along

when Eudora Welty sang a song.

lol - no, to my knowledge she never did, at least not publicly - she is a new experience for me - but you know, anything for a rhyme - guess I've been to evolved with a playlist of Dylan songs for my granddaughter. that man will do a lot to get a rhyme including slurring and intentionally mispronouncing words - it's the only defense I can come up with - carl

I'm a big Kristofferson fan myself. His lyrics are poetry that survive him. His voice was like whisky and gravel though and not very melodic. Dylan has always been a little too artsy for my taste but I absolutely love Tangled up in Blue. I used to know a girl named Blue and she dyed her hair red. I used to quote it around her a lot. It always brought a smile. There was an interesting rivalry over a girl between Dylan and Marlon Brando once. It's in Brando: The Autobiography. That was an interesting read. A new Dylan fan sounds wonderful. I saw his son, Jacob with his band, The Wallflowers, in concert. They opened for Eric Clapton and I love Clapton. He's such a living legend.

yes, I'm a fan of Jacob on his own and with the Wallflowers - also he did a documentary on the Laurel Canyon music scene that is interesting and Clapton is one of my very favorite artist - such a stockpile of work he has created in his career - would have loved to see him in person. - never saw Bob Dylan, but wouldn't want to now, but about the time of the Rolling Thunder Tour that would have been great.
