Duality of Man

Duality of Man

A Poem by carl
"

Not ignoring the beauty and grandeur of life on our planet, but to me man seems a totally different thing.

"

Linnaeus mineral or plant

obviously man is not

in that sense animalia

just on a higher notch.

Some say only animal

just of a different kind

but what of his nature

that can seem divine.

His nature exhibits both

the serpent and the dove

foul violence and greed

but also grace and love.

Not one but two selves

of a very flawed creation

good and evil laced inside

battling for possession.

Yes there is a darker side

more cruel than the rest

and this he can not hide

though trying level best.

To say man is just animal

is an exercise of excuse

to lord it over lesser lives

allowing dominant abuse.

Hiii Carl!!!

There's so much that rings true in this poem. It resonates with me the ending how "to say man is just snimal is an exercise of excuse to lord it over lesser lives allowing dominant abuse." There is a sense of responsibility that comes with knowledge what you do with it. Wonderful write Carl!! 🤗🤗🥰🥰

Our species never ceases to amaze me and also instil fear. I have seen wonderful acts of selfless love and generosity and then there is the unspeakable violence and cruelty inflicted on others. You have heaven and hell here on earth, good and evil and it’s never that far away. A thoughtful write carl, a troubling one.
