You Tell Me

You Tell Me

A Poem by ctwood
"

Just some questions I had.

"

You tell me

What have you done in your life?

Are you brave?

Can you dazzle me?

I’ve done nothing in life so far; my life has been plain.

I’ve once even said that I

would have had a mundane experience on the Titanic.

I can not tell you the story of

how I escaped from

Cambodia in my wheelchair.

I can not tell you the story of

how I rose above my upbringing

and went from homeless to Harvard.

I can not even tell you the story of

my parent’s tragic divorce

that tore my family apart.

None of these stories are mine.

I come from a small town

and overprotective parents.

So no, I have never led an army

against another twice

its size and won.

But then again,

I have never had an army to led.

Who is to say I could not?

So you tell me.

Am I brave?

Can I dazzle you?
