All I can be

I don't want to be

the homecoming queen.

I don't care where I'm not

but where I am.

I don't need fancy things

to be happy.

 

I can accept that I'm not

the prettiest girl in the world

or the smartest

or the tallest.

 

I can deal with average looks

average height

and average size

because I know

in a deeper level

I am an individual;

someone you've never met before

someone who isn't stereotyped like the others.

 

I'm no prom queen,

extravagant actress,

nor a nobel prized scientist.

 

I'm me.

And that's as good as I can be.

well that sounds absolutely terrific to me. That is something that can be very hard to do at times. staying true to yourself. we have all these roles we have to play as we grow up through life. Playing these roles sometimes makes us forget who we really are. stay true. stay cool. stay you.

Not many get a grip on who they are in the skin they live in, nor are able to more than accept themselves, and to revel in the idea that they can be productive and giving, not just one of the takers. Your poem here is enlightening as well as self probing. You seem to be candid, and yet not glorying in your stability.
