ImpetusA Poem by Ben TaylorA comet flickers across my windshield And I am given opportunity for a wish. Instead, I clench my jaw and tighten my grip On this piteous heart of mine. Something inside me breaks. My eyelashes fill with regret And my vision is blurred and rippled. I consider pulling off to the side of the interchange, But my self-preservation wilted when our Mutual affections were crushed underfoot; And so I force my wheels faster, Vainly attempting to blink away these tears. © 2012 Ben Taylor |
